Wow…2020. Between viruses, lockdowns, murder hornets, hurricanes, civil and political unrest, this is definitely one for the history books.
While working on a new project today and realized I have not updated this blog since February and there is so much to update.
Some of you may follow me on Instagram and I have been doing a lot of posting there this year, but today I want to spend some time reflecting on 2020. The ups, the downs and the in-betweens.
January 2020
January started with a fantastic trip to one of my new favorite places, Phoenix, for my second Epic Weekend. This weekend is always very important to me, and now with the pandemic we are in, it means even more that I was able to go. This weekend is always an opportunity to grow, learn and most of all be reminded of who I am and what I am capable of achieving. I had been struggling at the end of 2019. I was no longer in one-on-one coaching and I was finding it hard to hold myself accountable. In addition, the passion that I had found last year at my first Epic needed a reboot! And boy did I find it!
Ten minutes of burpees, lots of sweaty hugs and tons of tears…it reminded me that I am capable of so much more than I was allowing myself to do. So I cam back to Houston, determined to finish my personal training certification. Little did I know that just a few months later, everything would change.

March 2020
As we headed into March, the whole world shut down. The COVID-19 pandemic came to the United States and we suddenly found ourselves cut off from family, friends, school, work and everything we thought was normal. We did our best as a family to stay sane. One week we did “dress-up” theme night dinners.

April 2020
Now, as tough as it was being stuck at home, I had already committed to myself that I would run a half-marathon in April. Originally I had planned to run the 1/2 marathon at the Magnolia Silos in Waco, but of course that was cancelled. I knew that I could not let this pandemic stop me from a goal. So, I ran a solo virtual half-marathon in April at my favorite running park.

Rest of 2020
The rest of 2020 has honestly been a blur.
- Got my ISSA Certification
- Started training for a full marathon
- Started an online bible study
- Working from home full-time
- Took a solo trip to Colorado to get my mind right with all the craziness
- Started and stopped 75 Hard two more times
- Decided to start my own coaching business
- Created an LLC
- Got below 200 lbs (Lost 90 lbs since the beginning of my journey)
- Plan to run a marathon on New Year’s Eve
Man…I know that is not even all…I don’t know what 2021 has in store, but if I can survive 2020 and not gain back the 90 lbs I lost…I can do ANYTHING.
Ready to conquer this marathon and all the next goals that I have set for myself. Along with any challenges that may come my way.
